IMPACT Community Action Community and Customer Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

IMPACT Community Action to Continue Providing Essential Services While Taking Necessary Precautions in the Midst of Coronavirus (COVID-19).

COLUMBUS, OH – IMPACT Community Action (IMPACT) will continue to provide essential services to people in Franklin County from 8am - 5pm, Monday - Friday, while remaining mindful of health and safety precautions, social distancing guidelines, and mandates regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19). 

“We will continue to monitor the Franklin County Board of Health Department, the Columbus Public Health Department and be mindful of recommendations made though Governor Mike DeWine’s and Mayor Andrew Ginther’s response teams. IMPACT will remain fluid and adaptive to adjust its programs and services to meet the needs of Franklin County residents with the highest level of concern for health and safety,” stated CEO Robert ‘Bo’ Chilton.

Given the ever-evolving nature of this event, the following changes will occur to the administration of our programs and services:

  • Effective Monday March 16, IMPACT’s Emergency Assistance Department will accept “walk – in” applications for the Home Energy Assistance Winter Crisis Program / Percentage of Income Payment Program. Clients will receive an accelerated appointment that will check for eligibility, required documentation and then complete signature forms. 

  • IMPACT’s Re- Entry Work Readiness classes will continue through Friday, March 20th. United Way has cancelled all VITA Tax Preparation sites effective immediately. IMPACT will not be processing ANY additional tax documents.  Please coordinate with HandsOn Central Ohio 211 regarding any pending tax appointment. 

  • The “Super Saturday” Tax Prep Day scheduled for April 11, 2020 has been postponed indefinitely. 

  • IMPACT’s Workforce Development Connection program is postponed for the next 21 days. Program start dates will be announced at the end of the 21- day period via email and on our website.

  • Build-Up Construction trades classes will continue as scheduled.

  • The American Electric Power Energy Efficiency program, which replaces refrigerators, freezers and lighting has suspended all deliveries. Services will be rescheduled after April 10th.
