Climate Justice Initiatives at IMPACT
Since 2019, IMPACT Community Action has been a thought leader and champion for climate justice.
In strong partnership with residents of Columbus’ opportunity neighborhoods, IMPACT is dedicated to reducing the effects of climate change to those who can least afford it.
Key Initiatives
Creation of the Climate Action Plan: We have been instrumental in shaping and implementing the Climate Action Plan, laying the groundwork for a more sustainable and resilient city.
Education and Advocacy: We have empowered thousands of individuals with the knowledge and tools to reduce their energy consumption and alleviate the burden of high energy costs.
Community Engagement: We have actively engaged with residents to gather feedback on the impacts of pollution and a rapidly changing climate, ensuring that the voices of marginalized communities are heard and prioritized in city planning efforts.
Solar Initiatives: We have promoted two City of Columbus solar co-ops, expanding access to clean and renewable energy for underserved neighborhoods.
Workforce Development: We have developed a groundbreaking clean energy workforce development program, providing pathways to economic opportunity and environmental stewardship.
