2018 Ripple of Hope Awards Gala: "A Decade of IMPACT"
IMPACT Community Action is excited to announce the 2018 Ripple of Hope Awards Gala: "A Decade of IMPACT." This year, IMPACT is celebrating 10 years of success serving our community, and we want you to be a part of it! We have made some fantastic improvements to the event based on feedback from previous participants, board members, and the community-at-large. This year, we will be recognizing our past and looking to the future on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at the Hilton Columbus at Easton, starting at 5:30 p.m. with heavy hors d 'Oeuvres and beverage service.
The 2018 Ripple of Hope Awards Gala recognizes three phenomenal individuals who have supported IMPACT and the Franklin County community. The honorees represent the three categories mirroring our tripartite Board of Directors who embody and promote anti-poverty leadership, action and mobilization of resources to reduce poverty in Franklin County, and position IMPACT as a model Community Action Agency.
The 2018 Ripple of Hope Award Honorees are:
Ms. Pauline Edwards - Community Sector: Ms. Edwards was one of the founding members of IMPACT's Board of Directors and served two consecutive terms from 2007-2013. She is extremely passionate and devoted to the community, utilizing her skills in gerontology to improve the lives and well-being of the elderly in Franklinton while serving on the Franklinton Area Commission from 1988 to 2017. Ms. Edwards currently serves on the Lower Lights Christian Health Center Board as well as the Franklinton Urban Empowerment Lab (FUEL), Westside Community Health Advisory Committee, and the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Community Advisory Committee.
Mr. Kevin Walker - Private/Non-Profit Sector: Mr. Walker served as the first Chairperson of the IMPACT Board of Directors while holding the position of President and Chief Operating Officer for AEP Ohio. His commitment to the community helped shape and position IMPACT for the successes being celebrated at the 2018 Ripple of Hope Awards Gala. Mr. Walker is currently the Senior Vice President of Power Supply at Southern California Edison and Co-Founder of TurtleWise Inc., a virtual advice and mentoring platform.
Dr. Anahi M. Ortiz - Public Sector: Dr. Ortiz serves our community as the Franklin County Coroner since her appointment in November of 2014 and has almost 30 years of experience working with high risk communities in the medical field. Dr. Ortiz has supported our community most recently by highlighting cultural sensitivity as a priority of the Coroner's office, convening the Franklin County Drug Overdose Initiative in 2015, hosting the Franklin County Opiate Crisis Summit in 2016 and 2017, working on a Community Action Plan towards the opiate crisis, and launched the Franklin County Opiate Crisis Task Force in 2016.
The Ripple of Hope Awards Gala also provides opportunities to network with other community leaders and IMPACT supporters, volunteers, and program participants as well as to learn about IMPACT's past, and how you can support IMPACT's future.
